Sometimes as a parent in this new age I can get distracted with taking pictures of my little one. I am guilty of taking one hundred pictures of my daughter in a single day, snapping away as she plays, trying to get the right shot to send to my family. It’s so easy to get caught up with capturing moments rather than living fully in them. I was so pleased to discover a new book for toddlers that tackles just that issue. #BabyLove: My Toddler Life by Corine Dehghanpisheh is the second in her #BabyLove series and we love it at our house! I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
In #BabyLove: My Toddler Life, a little boy who is very much used to getting his picture taken decides to play with his mom’s phone and take pictures himself. His mother finds him playing with her phone and uses the moment to teach him that what matters most is spending time together. They put the phone down and play blocks together.
Why i love it
This book is very appropriate for the times we live in and that’s part of what makes me love it. The theme is something children and parents today can relate to. We all have smartphones and snap pictures of our children. I’m sure at one point all of our children have picked up our phones and talked (in our case babbled) into them. Our children know how to work phones at a young age.
This book serves as a simple reminder to put down our phones and enjoy those fleeting moments of childhood. The mother in the book reminds her son just how special he is as they look over pictures he took. It ends with the most important part, the pair playing together and forging more memories. I love that. It’s isn’t about avoiding taking pictures. It’s just a reminder to keep the balance. That’s really what parenting is, a balancing act.Let's put down our phones and enjoy those fleeting moments of childhood. #kidlit #giveaway Click To Tweet
