Donald Duck Day is celebrated every year on June 9th. It isn’t just the day we honor Donald Duck but it’s his TV birthday as well. He debuted on June 9, 1938 so happy 79th birthday, Donald! The ladies of Friday Frivolity wish you well. I’ve decorated Donald Duck cupcakes three ways to add to the party.
To make these cupcakes I just used box mix but substituted the eggs for applesauce. I feel like it makes them more moist and delicious. You can use any cupcake recipe you’d like for this project but make sure the cupcakes are thoroughly cooled before you try to ice.
For the icing I used store bought as well. I had a tub of vanilla icing in my cupboard and I used food coloring to make some of it blue and some of it orange.
Blue cupcake wrappers are ideal, I think but all I could find were yellow. It still fits with Donald’s color scheme.
Three Donald duck cupcakes
Pipe a swirl of white around the top of your cupcake and add a “bean-shaped” dollop of blue for his hat.
Pipe half of your cupcake blue and the other half white. Then, use orange to create his feet. On top of the white area towards the border add some blue for a hat.
This one starts the same as the one above. Do half blue and half white but instead of orange feet, create his orange bill. I used a paring knife to smear the orange on in one swipe. Add some chocolate chips for eyes and a blue hat on top.
What do you have planned for Donald Duck Day this year?
