Happy Trail Mix Day! This week the ladies of Friday Frivolity are sharing their favorite trail mix recipes with you to celebrate. Here are some of my favorite things to include in a trail mix.
Chocolate is a must for me. I’ll confess that I seldom make trail mix at home but I love Walmart’s Indulgent Mix. It’s white and milk chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, almonds, cashews, dried cranberries and golden raisins.
Aside from chocolate, adding slivers of dried fruit is another great way to add some sweetness to your trail mix. Dehydrated guava or pineapple will brighten your trail mix.
To add saltiness, try mixing in pretzel. Yogurt covered mini pretzels would be amazing and add an extra dimension.
You can add any type of nuts you prefer. Peanuts are classic. Pecans and walnuts have a great texture. Almonds add a terrific crunch. Cashews are also wonderful in trail mix. Sunflower kernels are a favorite of mine to add as well.
Trail mix is a great snack because you can add any bite sized snack you like. What are your favorite things to have in trail mix?
