The Healthy Habit I’m Committing to in 2017

It’s a new year and time for new resolutions to be happier and healthier. One of the ways I’m committing to a happier, healthier lifestyle is by starting a healthy morning routine: eating breakfast everyday. As a busy mom with a toddler it’s so easy to forget breakfast. I wake up, get the baby’s breakfast ready and most days I survive just on coffee.

Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. Eating breakfast gives you the energy you need to seize the day.

My family eats Honey Bunches of Oats® in the mornings to get a daily dose of whole grains and yumminess.

Honey Bunches of Oats® is delicious but it’s my favorite breakfast cereal because of how nutritious it is. There’s ten grams of whole grains, as well as antioxidants, fiber, vitamin B and even protein. It’s also heart healthy with zero grams of trans fat, saturated fat and zero milligrams of cholesterol per serving.

I love the little bit of sweetness it adds to my mornings. There are three varieties of Honey Bunches of Oats®: strawberry, almond and classic honey.

I used a coupon to buy the cereal for this recipe and you can get yours here.

The recipe I’m sharing with you today is a Honey Bunches of Oats® breakfast pizza. The crust comes together with only 3 ingredients and can be made overnight making breakfast even easier. I really like the idea of making several smaller crusts and letting kids customize them the way they like.

To make the crust:

  • 3 cups Honey Bunches of Oats® (I like half honey and half almond.)
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • Pinch of cinnamon

  • Raspberry jam
  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  1. Mix together the Honey Bunches of Oats®, peanut butter and cinnamon.
  2. Press the crust mixture into a pan lined with parchment paper. Leave a little bit of a thicker edge around, like a pizza.
  3. Refrigerate for at least an hour. You can do this step the night before and let them set overnight.
  4. Top with jam and berries.

You can top this crust with anything you can imagine. A yogurt and berry topping would work well too. I personally love the honey raspberry flavor. The jam makes it feel like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Experiment with any toppings and fruit you like.

Honey Bunches of Oats® is the perfect way to start your day. It’s become a part of my healthy morning routine and given me the energy I need to manage my household. The fiber keeps me going until lunch time and I can feel confident eating it because of the vitamins and whole grains. Don’t forget to print your coupon here.
